ZK/U - CENTER FOR ART AND URBANISTICS 2019

Berlin, Germany

“Ossetian Sea” was held at the Center for Art and Urbanistics in Berlin, Germany. The exhibition presented a slice of contemporary video art of the self-organization of young Ossetian artists. Ossetian contemporary art exists in a situation of isolation from European art processes, markets and institutions. It is autonomous and seems to be imprisoned in internal immigration, in its own logic of artistic production, rather resembling closed waters. In fact, no sea exists in Ossetia. The exhibition affirms a special economy of dreams, where the utopian geography of openness becomes the only possible reference point.
